Personal Description:

I am currently studying a masters in Classical guitar at the RNCM under Craig Ogden. I also have a first class Honours degree in music from the University of Newcastle and have been involved in a wide range of performance projects including solo recitals, chamber music, bands and theatrical productions around the North East of England. Alongside the classical Guitar, i am also a performer of different styles of music including jazz, rock and pop on the electric guitar and equally enjoy playing and teaching these styles. I have regularly performed with the University Theatre Society as well as Salsa Ensembles in a wide range of theatrical productions, concerts and function bands. Having spent my third year of university attending the Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Castilla y Leon in Salamanca, Spain, I have focused on honing my skills as a guitarist while absorbing rich cultural and musical experiences that I relate back to the guitar.

Tutoring Experience:

I give one to one private lessons from both absolute beginners to more capable students. I recently taught as part of an International music summer school at Winchester College, both as a guitar tutor and staff member. As a member of staff at the Ingenium Academy, it was my responsibility to work with due to care and skill to provide leadership and guidance to all students.
I have assisted pupils as part of Music service extra tuition mornings that take place on weekends. It was there that I assisted the children who particularly struggled with their music reading and playing. Working with a range of children at different ages and stages of development has given me further experience as to how to approach each student in a way that is beneficial to them. Further voluntary sessions in Wakefield Manygates Music Centre has enabled me to focus on larger ensembles which entails supporting and teaching 8-16 year olds. I have taught one to one lessons with beginners as well as accompanying more experienced players in concert situations, offering performance and music theory coaching.

Tutoring Approach:

Based on my guitar concert history and performing as a solo musician for much of the time, preparing for performance deadlines in an independent and effective manner is something I strive for in my own practise time. Having determination to be organised and achieve high standards is something I look to encourage and support students within their own practise. The tuition I currently receive at the RNCM is continuing to refine and push my own abilities as a musician and I seek to pass on this training. I hope to encourage those wanting to learn the guitar, either for fun or for exams, to strive and push themselves musically for their own personal success. I focus on improving technical facility of the instrument as well as
