Personal Description:
I was born and raised in Hong Kong, and have relocated to Northern Ireland in June 2021. I possess a PhD from Hong Kong, and have been lecturing on music theory, music technology, composition, and interdisciplinary topics. I am currently a visiting scholar at QUB. I would like to look for part-time working opportunities to connect with the community.
Tutoring Experience:
Apart from lecturing in unis I have also conducted primary school choirs and orchestras when I was in Hong Kong. I was awarded the Associate Diplomas (ATCL) piano and Licentiate Diploma (LTCL) singing diploma from Trinity College London in 2004 and 2012 respectively, and have been giving private piano and singing lessons for almost 20 years. In summer 2019 I taught a summer camp for 8-10 yo children on creative thinking and music composition. I definitely would like to use my experiences to inspire children in my new neighbourhood.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that the ultimate goal of creative art and music education is to develop self efficacy- the belief in one’s ability to succeed and to accomplish. Through creating, students acquire the ability to solve practical problems, and to construct new understandings of the world.
