Information About Una - Barking teacher
I am a friendly and hard-working university student currently studying for a Psychology BSc. I am aiming to complete a Doctorate of Educational Psychology as my post-graduate programme and as such I am offering tutoring services in my spare time.
I have applied for a CRB check and I am currently waiting to receive the relevant paperwork
I have tutored a number of individuals on a casual level throughout my education. This would be my first non-voluntary assignment as I now feel I have gained the necessary skills to be able to offer effective tutoring to others.
Some relevant experience that I have is as follows:
Work experience in a local primary school with all ages from 5-11 years.
Teaching music to a group of children ranging from 7 to 16 in age for the purpose of an annual Christmas concert in aid of an orphanage in Africa.
A position I currently hold is with the educational support office at my university. My role is as a notetaker for students that are unable to take their own notes normally due to physical disabilities.
I tend to keep a file of general teaching materials for a particular subject. However, in the first session, I find it useful to run a general assessment so I can see the level I need to aim at for an individual. It is also good to try and gage the learning style of an individual so that the necessary information is more likely to be committed to the long term rather than the short term memory. Therefore, the way I approach tutoring is likely to vary between my tutees.
