This is how 2 referees rated Tim:
I am a self employed musician, passionate about making, teaching, and performing all styles of music. I am a proficient fiddle player who will to pass on my knowledge to students willing to learn. I strongly believe that playing an instrument is not just about technical ability. Its also, and more importantly, about communication and emotion. This involves understanding music and interpreting it your way… this results in maximum pleasure of the performer and listener alike. I happy to teach classical, folk, blues, country to get students started on their musical journey. I also teach music theory. I provide lessons to adult students who was to learn fiddle playing techniques. I provide one-to-one and online lessons.
I have delivered many training courses in the past. I have much experience of teaching fiddle on a one-to-one level. I am also a peripatetic music teacher at local primary schools. As well as one-to-one tuition, I provide ONLINE LESSONS using Zoom.
I offer a friendly one to one approach, to understand the basics and get to a good rewarding sound as quickly as possible. I am happy to deliver lessons at your home, at mine or online.
Although classically trained, I am particularly keen and specialise in teaching 'fiddle' music (country/Irish/etc), for those who want to join in on folk music sessions, play in folk clubs or country bands, or just play melodies for their own pleasure.
NEW for 2022 is my tutorial book called ‘Fiddling for Fun’. This book has brought together in one volume many of the topics I focus on in my lessons with Chapters such as ‘Essential information for violin players’, ‘How to make your violin sound like a fiddle’ and ‘Accompanying a Singer/Guitarist’. Feedback on this book has been very positive with students saying it is a good reference source to complement the lessons. Copies are not generally available but a FREE pdf copy is sent to everyone who signs up for lessons with me.
New students also gain exclusive access to a database with over eighty well known and popular tunes to learn. Each tune comes with sheet music, demonstration MP3 (with fiddle) and backing MP3 (with fiddle removed) that you can play, download and use for practice. Many have slower versions designed for learning. The data base is being added to all the time, often with suggestions from students! There are some great tunes to learn and share.
