Personal Description:

I am very passionate about music, and I want to instil others with that same feeling. Everyone has different ways of engaging with music, whether it be performing, composing or even researching. I am a friendly and welcoming person, and I particularly enjoy composing and arranging music.

Tutoring Experience:

I was a Music teacher in primary and secondary schools for 4 years, and I have experience of individual peripatetic teaching. Throughout my career and studies, I have participated in, lead and created various ensembles and choirs, and I often like to compose and arrange music for them. I have toured in Europe with Croydon Youth Orchestra as principal cellist. While at university, I have also played with the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra. I conducted the Rock Symphonic Orchestra at university, and I set up an experimental-music ensemble at my second PGCE placement. I have also played guitar and bass guitar with a number of bands, including a gig at the LG Arena in Birmingham.

Tutoring Approach:

I will play to your strengths, and give you the opportunity to develop, regardless of level of ability. Of course, I do want to challenge you as you learn, so I have developed a sound knowledge and implementation of progress and target-setting for individual students. Over the course of my training and teaching experience, I have developed an interactive, fun, engaging approach to learning. I always attempt to establish a good rapport with my students, in order that a mutual relationship between the teaching and learning can flourish.
