Personal Description:

Trained at Cambridge University and the Royal Academy of Music, I have 20 years of experience teaching classical piano to children from aged 4 (a good age to start!) to adults (never too late - some of my most accomplished students started aged 30+!), from complete beginners to diploma-level. I teach in English and/or French, online and in person, in Greenwich and in Cambridge, Mondays to Saturdays during term time. Many of my students take ABRSM exams but it is entirely optional - some have never been near a music exam! I have enjoyed teaching students with all kinds of neurodiversities, and enjoy the challenge of adapting my teaching style to each student's strengths and needs.

Lessons are usually weekly, and can last for anything from 15 minutes (good for very small people!) to 90+ minutes for my most advanced students.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching in schools and privately for over 20 years. I have taught children as young as three, and adults aged 50+. I have taught all levels from complete beginners to diploma-level. I have taught in English and in French, online and in person. I have prepared students for ABRSM exams, Trinity exams, music college auditions, scholarships, GCSEs, A-Levels, competitions, and university entrance. I have taught students with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, sensory processing disorder, OCD, deafness, and dyspraxia.

Tutoring Approach:

I love getting to know my students, their passions and their dislikes, their strengths and their needs, and adapting my teaching accordingly. I am happy for my students to take exams if they find that useful or motivating, but equally happy to work without external goals. I am very happy teaching small children (I find four a good minimum age to start) as well as older children and teenagers. About half of my students are adults, most of whom started as complete beginners and many of whom have gone on to Grade 8 +.
