Personal Description:

I’m outgoing, compassionate, energetic and enthusiastic and I adore teaching the recorder to students of all ages. I'm gentle but firm, and have high expectations of myself and my students. I studied the oboe and piano at the Guildhall School of Music; I am trained in Kodaly-Dalcroze, but the recorder is my first love.

Tutoring Experience:

My experience is extensive: I’ve worked with 5-80 year olds and have taught one-to-one and in groups of up to ten. For 25 years I ran the music department in a prep school where Ofsted rated my work as exceptional. I’ve taught all the instruments in the recorder family (descant, treble, tenor etc) to more children than I can count, which has resulted in extra-ordinary experience in both teaching and the recorder! Many of my students have been awarded music scholarships and have gone to all the major public schools in north London eg Haberdashers, NLCS, Belmont/Mill Hill etc. All my students achieve exceptional exam results from Initial to Grade 8 and have had countless top successes performing in Music Festivals, both as soloists and in ensembles.

I’m passionate about teaching, making it fun, conveying the joy of playing and opening windows to the world of music.
