Information About Susan - Appleby-in-Westmorland teacher

Personal Description:

I am a classically trained violinist with a music degree from London University. I have played with many orchestras in the south of England and now play professionally for the Lakeland Sinfonia, Morecambe Promenade Orchestra and others by request.

I play electric violin with the Eden Valley Ceilidh Band and we play frequently for weddings, birthday parties and fundraising functions. I am constantly developing my knowledge and skills in folk violin playing.

Tutoring Experience:

I currently teach violin in local primary and secondary schools and have a number of private pupils - both adults and children.

In 2009 I successfully completed the "Teaching Music Effectively" programme run by The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music which is a programme specifically for instrumental teachers to enable them to keep up-to-date with new developments and initiatives in music teaching. I am a member of the European String Teachers Association and attended a week long summer school in 2014 to develop my string teaching skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to teach many different types of music including popular music, classical music and folk music. I also use violin duets a lot in my teaching to develop the ability to play music with other musicians
