Information About Steve - Bury teacher - (1 review)
This is how 2 referees rated Steve:
My name is Steve and I'm a electric bassist, double bassist and bass tutor from Radcliffe, North Manchester. I am a full time member of two function bands; playing modern rock and indie on electric bass for The Cellar Machine and jump blues on double bass for Mr G's Blues Band.
I have a degree in Pure Maths and Music, which included study in Music Theory (equivalent to ABRSM Grade 6), Song Composition, Musical Analysis, the Physics of Music, the Principles of Operation of both electric and acoustic instruments (with personal emphasis on Double Bass), MIDI and Recording Techniques.
I have been playing bass guitar for around 25 years, with electric guitar for around 15 years before that.
I have been teaching a modest portfolio of students for the last year while completing my studies, and am now seeking to increase my student base.
My approach is centred very much around music the student likes and wants to play. I have a large selection of transcribed songs to work with and, also can transcribe songs by request, time permitting. Areas that I can cover include basic left and right hand playing technique, music theory (scales, harmonic analysis), ear training, reading music, creating original lines and improvisation, efficient practicing methods, but I am happy for the student to select the specific goals they would like to focus on.
I offer a 20% discount on lesson prices for off-peak (10am-4:30pm), midweek (monday - friday inclusive) lessons
I can provide a bass guitar for use in the the lesson if traveling straight from school/college/work. I also provide 'taster' lessons for electric bass players who are interested in trying out double bass, but don't have access to an instrument to try.
Unfortunately I am unable to provide lessons in students' homes.
