I am an experienced musician, both as a performer and teacher. I am able to pass on a multitude of skills which I have attained throughout my musical career, and will be able to mentor pupils, enabling them to grow in confidence, as musicians and people. My first instrument is flute (doubling piccolo), and have studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where I gained a Bachelors in Music Performance and received the John MacGregor Award for Flute. In addition to this, I have also achieved my Fellowship Performance Diploma (FTCL). I have also played with orchestras such as the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, RTE concert Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
I am a peripatetic woodwind teacher for Fife Council. Within this job I teach single and group lessons as well as conducting and rehearsing various ensembles. I also teach a range of private pupils of differing ages and abilities. Moreover, I conduct and rehearse a flute ensemble, which also has a members of wide ranging ability and age. I am also PVG certified.
My approach to music is that is should be enjoyable. I am a flexible teacher, who is willing to adapt and change for every pupil in order that they can improve, be challenged and enjoy it as much as possible. I am willing to invest my time and energy in a pupil of any standard or age, and hope to receive this time and energy in return.
