I am a well-established, friendly and enthusiastic violin tutor for all ages, interests and abilities. No-one is too old or too young to begin - let's make some music and have a laugh together!

Lessons are tailored to your needs and wishes whether that is folk/jazz, classical, improvisation or a blend of styles. Always keen to write something out, give me requests and I can notate your favourite song at the right level just for you. I also successfully support students through ABRSM exams (practical, performance and theory) to Grade 8 and beyond, and encourage participation in local festivals and orchestras.

I have a teaching studio in Stonehouse; home visits are also available. Online lessons (via your app of choice) have a £5 discount (£10 / £15 / £20 for 30 / 45 / 60 mins).

I have public liability insurance and enhanced disclosure, and I am registered with the Incorporated Society of Musicians.

Tutoring Experience:

4+ years' experience teaching a variety of ages and in different settings.

Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours, The University of Glasgow (2015)
Previous member of the Music Teachers’ Association of Queensland (2017)
One year at the Schulich School of Music, McGill University, Montréal (2013)
Grade 8 Violin (2011)
Grade 5 Theory (2009)
Basic training in Alexander Technique

Tutoring Approach:

Music is primarily about enjoyment!

However we also know that playing an instrument significantly improves cognitive abilities as a whole. It also hones many important transferable skills: goal-setting, time management, listening, problem-solving, self-confidence, hand-eye co-ordination - it is a holistic activity.

I work with you to find the perfect balance of these elements so you can get the most out of your music.
