Information About Sian - Helensburgh teacher - (2 reviews)
This is how 4 referees rated Sian:
I am a classical singer by trade- although I am able to sing a wide range of genres- and have sung with opera companies across Europe. I also do regular concert work and have featured on BBC Proms in the Park, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio Wales, Radio France and Radio Nacionale de Espagna.
I relocated to Helensburgh in 2014 where I re-established my teaching practice alongside conducting two local choirs.
I am a very enthusiastic teacher and give out a lot of stickers!
I have been teaching privately for about fifteen years and seen pupils from their first lessons through onto university courses for Music, Music Theatre and Drama. Some vocal pupils are now professional singers, others sing purely for fun. I taught at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Junior Conservatoire for several years where I ran vocal workshops, conducted choirs, adjudicated exams and gave individual lessons. I have also run outreach projects and voice and character workshops for Garsington Opera, the BBC National Chorus of Wales, Monmouth and Bristol Choral Societies and the Roses Theatre, Tewkesbury.
I have taught pupils from 4 to retired and have experience teaching young people with educational and emotional disabilities.
I teach classical, musical theatre and pop/rock syllabi and I can help people want to sing folk too. I also help young people with their spoken drama texts.
Singing: I teach classical, musical theatre and pop styles with emphasis on vocal technique and health as well as enjoyment. All my littlies also learn solfege hand signs- studies show they learn best white movement so it’s a great addition. :-)
Violin: I teach classical and folk but am happy to teach any genre! Violinists also learn solfege to help their reading and Maura elements.
Theory: I teach theory and I get pupils through their written exams.
Audition training: I get you sorted for auditions, including your sung and spoken elements.
I believe teachers should instil a life-long love of music and enable pupils to think for themselves so there is an element of music theory and music reading in lessons. I provide exam preparation- usually ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall and Trinity Rock and Pop- excellent for boosting those UCAS points, and teach theory in all lessons.
The main thing is I make lessons fun. Oh, and I love giving out stickers almost as much as my pupils love earning them.
As part of my GET KIDS PLAYING promotion, I am currently offering lessons to primary school-aged children at £12/30mins. Lessons available in violin, singing and musicianship.
Come and have a go!
