Information About Sharon - Paignton teacher
As a flute teacher, I am always keen to explore new and fun ways to learn what can be a difficult and sometimes challenging and frustrating instrument. The flute is of course a very beautiful instrument and when played well can be rewarding both to the pupils and their parents / partners!
Personally, I have achieved a lot through music and know first hand that it can be a huge confidence builder. Having played before hundreds of people I know how strong and empowering it can make you feel, and this transcends through life generally.
In teaching music, I can now pass on the skills I have gained and watch pupils grow in confidence and musical ability.
I have been playing the flute now many years achieving grade 8 standard, played in orchestras, bands, a folk group and have over the last 6 years helped a number of pupils gain their ABRSM Grades.
My teaching is very much tailored to each individual pupil, using a range of musical styles, encouraging pupils to play their own compositions, chart music or classical. I work very much on the theory that if the music is enjoyed, the flute playing is enjoyed, and it is this enjoyment that creates the right environment for the pupil to develop and improve. No one wants learning an instrument to be a chore.
