I always knew I wanted to be a singer and began singing before I could even speak. Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, I studied Music Theatre in an arts-based secondary school (Etobicoke School of the Arts) then went on to vocal jazz studies at Humber College.
I have over twenty years of professional performance experience with stage, television, radio, studio and as an independent recording artist and in that time I've also been fortunate enough to win awards for my work in the music industry. The years I've spent traveling various parts of the world and sharing stages with artists like Amanda Marshall, Sheila E… Patrice Rushen, Delta Goodrem and country superstar Johnny Reid have been very special to me.
As a vocalist and guitarist, I've performed on cruise ships and in resorts, as well as with function bands and even demonstrating vocal and guitar effects pedals for TC Helicon at the Birmingham Guitar Show as well as for the Voice Council's Interactive Rock & Pop Day.
I am well versed in many different vocal styles - Jazz, Soul, R&B Pop, Music Theatre and Blues. I believe it is important to be well rounded as a singer and musician. I want to share my passion and knowledge of singing with you. All that is required from you is your desire to sing and to sing well.
It's never too late to learn how to sing; let me help you find your voice.
I have 5 years of private tutor experience with students aged 5 years to adult - male and female.
In my vocal lessons, you will learn the fundamentals of singing (breathing and posture) understanding the voice (vocal anatomy), vocal health, performance techniques and basics of music theory. Suggestions for repertoire will be given but I generally like to personalise lessons for individuals according to their vocal and musical interests.
For guitar, students will also be taught the fundamentals:
scales & chords, chord progressions, rhythm techniques (strumming), music theory and reading music. We'll also cover ear training as well as the basics of soloing.
