Personal Description:

I've been playing some kind of musical instrument regularly for 25 years now, guitar for 16. I've been mad about music since a very young age.

After finishing my A-levels, I was accepted to study contemporary music and guitar at the Nexus Academy of Creative Arts in Coventry, and after graduation I was taken on as an intern there where I shared in some of the teaching, coaching and assessing responsibility. After leaving Nexus, all sorts of opportunities opened up for me and I was able to teach and play overseas in Australia and USA mainly.

Now however, I'm settled down in the city of Basingstoke continuing to make a living out of what I know best.

Tutoring Experience:

My teaching experience is quite varied. My first taste of it was at a local martial arts school, and soon after that I got a TEFL qualification and spent a year teaching English in Nepal and India.

I started teaching guitar since it was the natural thing to do, people wanted me to teach them, and it was something I could do, so it turned into a part-time business to fund my studies. As of 2013, after all my traveling, I decided to give myself to the full-time pursuit of being the best guitar teacher I could be, and I think it's worked quite well so far.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach people of all ages and proficiency. I'm recommended by the Registry of Guitar Tutors and I have an up to date DBS certificate (previously known as a CRB check).I'm very familiar with teaching kids and beginners.

I hold lessons at my teaching studio at home, but can travel if need be, though I do charge an additional fee for fuel and commute time.

Lessons are oriented towards a student's chosen goal. As soon as they can name it, then it's possible to identify the necessary path to take. Guitar lessons work best when they are both fun and structured.

I believe in learning each concept properly and thoroughly, rather than rushing things to fool the student into thinking they're learning more than they are.
