Having begun learning the guitar at a young age, I developed a passion not only for music, but specifically for how it is constructed through every stage of its creation. This has lead me to explore a multitude of instruments and the parameters for how they are recorded, mixed and mastered. Following earning my First Class BA in Music, I have proceeded to share the knowledge I have gained so far and through teaching, will in turn, learn a lot more.
While studying for my Music degree at university, I took the opportunity to use my free time to begin my teaching career. I tutored several students from a variety of ages on methods and methodologies to improve their abilities on the guitar and bass guitar, along with providing guidance on Logic (recording software) to enable them to record their work and encourage composition.
It is imperatively critical that music lessons are enjoyed, therefore I believe that is important to tailor each lesson to the individual based on what the student would like to explore, maximising success and improvement. It has been within my experience that I have come to believe that music grades, whilst they provide a good sense of progression, often can restrict the learner and even provide too much pressure. Every student learns at their own pace and wishes to learn different things, so it is for this reason that I do not teach a graded system. This allows my approach to teaching to stay dynamic and flexible, always focusing on the student's needs, keeping the lessons fun, engaging and unique.
