Personal Description:
I am a London-based classically trained pedal harpist who studied at the Junior Royal College of Music under Daphne Boden and I have been playing since I was 9. I have lived in Brixton for 8 years and am extremely passionate about making the harp accessible to those coming from socio-economic backgrounds that would normally prevent them from accessing an instrument like the harp, particularly to young people in South London. I believe that learning music should be a freeing and relaxing experience, and never a stressful one.
Tutoring Experience:
I am now 32 - an experienced harpist and passionate teacher who offers a relaxed and professional learning experience wherever suits the student.
Tutoring Approach:
I use a teaching methodology developed over many years of playing and learning, which uses the Grossi method in part and focuses on a three pronged approach. The student will learn through a combination of technique exercises, studies and pieces.
The learning journey will be tailored to the student and the reasons why they want to learn the harp. At a higher level they will be encouraged to choose the music that they want to play.
I teach both pedal and lever harp, classical and folk and am comfortable with students from complete beginner. I teach children, young people and adults.
My teaching approach is positive, relaxed and student-centred. Learning should be rewarding, even when it is difficult!
