Information About Sasha - Leeds teacher

Personal Description:

Hi there, my name is Sasha and I'm a composer and instrumentalist studying at Leeds Conservatoire. Alongside my degree, I'm gigging with my soul band in which I play keys and maintaining my classical piano technique to keep my musical range broad! I have a background of classical training with an ABRSM Grade 8 Certificate, whilst my heart lies too with jazz and contemporary piano.

Tutoring Experience:

I have a year of tutoring experience being self employed. The students I taught were in KS1; we started most of their music journeys from a beginner level. My lessons range from 30 minutes to an hour, arranged based on discussions with the parents of each child: taking into account each student's age, attention span and the frequency of our lessons.

Tutoring Approach:

As my current teaching experience is with KS1 pupils working from beginner level upwards, our lessons aim towards climbing the grade system in a structured but accommodating format. Initially, the tuition consists of breaking up technique coaching with sight-reading sheet exercises and ear-training games, until a lesson shape is formed specific to each student's learning style. With any format, I feel compelled to instil a love for piano and music through teaching, and wish my students confidence in their abilities and independent in their own musical worlds.
