Personal Description:

I am a friendly, approachable individual with a simple aim… to allow all ages to enjoy music.

I teach from my home in Lichfield where I can provide a calm and friendly teaching environment.

I have been playing music for over 30 years and it is a real passion of mine. I have achieved Music Scholarships, a position in the National Youth Orchestra, awarded the position of Head Chorister at school, and entry into the RNCM. I have travelled internationally with orchestras, performed at numerous prestigious concert halls and have made tv and radio appearances. My current performance experience is with a string quartet which I play in around my teaching hours.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught privately for over 10 years - I have built strong and trusting relationships with all my pupils.

Everybody has individual needs and my lessons are tailored to focus on the specific need. I can provide a quality piano (either for learning on or for accompanying a string pupil) and any additional material required to help with the learning process.

I work with an approved contract - I am happy to send you a copy of this before starting lessons.

Tutoring Approach:

When we first meet, I like to discover what goals you are aiming for… if you are an adult looking to start a new skill for simple enjoyment, be it to achieve Grade 1 or to be able to play the Christmas Carol you've always loved, or if you would like your child to develop more confidence in the instrument to be able to take ABRSM grades. Whatever your intention, I will work with you to achieve these goals at the speed you are most comfortable. To help with progress, students must be prepared to practise a sufficient amount at home!

I will actively encourage questions - my desire is for you to understand what you are learning without feeling overwhelmed! I also provide performing opportunities for adults at my private concerts dedicated solely to adult learners (a great opportunity to meet fellow learners at all stages) and at my annual concert open to all pupils (generally held before Christmas).
