Information About Sarah - Highgate teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Sarah:
I am a committed performer who is equally passionate about music education. I am a highly organized, motivated and enthusiastic music teacher with excellent communication skills and enjoy teaching students of all ages and abilities.
My teaching experience includes working for the Irish Chamber Orchestra’s El Sistema inspired education program ‘Sing Out With Strings’, which included working with small groups, chamber groups, individual students and a string orchestra, substitute violin and piano teaching in a music school/music service setting and violin/piano private teaching. Studying Historical Performance at the RAM has given me a unique opportunity to explore music of the past in a creative and informed way. Investigating the harmony, counterpoint, style and rhetoric of music of the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras from a historically informed point of view has definitely inspired my teaching and my outlook on performance
I really believe that knowledge is power, having an appreciation for a wide variety of genres and being aware of the ‘grammar’ of music is equally as important as instrumental technique. My focus as an instrumental tutor is on equipping the student with the tools and skills necessary to become a freethinking and independent musician, to inspire others by my great love for music and most importantly to have an awful lot of fun exploring the wonderful universal language that is music!
