Welcome to my profile. I am a mother of two grown children. As well as teaching piano I work with animals both domesticated and wild as a volunteer and also with The Garden House Hospice. I have a rescue cat and four rescued guinea pigs and love my garden. At the heart of everything I do is patience, kindness and tolerance.
I have been teaching the piano and musical theory for over twenty years, to both children and adults.
I am DBS checked. I have also taught art privately and in college set ups with adults and those with learning difficulties.
We are currently experiencing very serious times where our health and the health of those around us is priority. I am currently teaching my students on line via WhatsApp video call and it is working out very well.
I am now offering this service to all new students who may be too far from a traditional teacher or has a teacher unable or unwilling to give on line lessons.
No special equipment is needed besides your phone, but if you intend to start as a beginner new to the instrument, then having a tripod or some way of securing your phone so that I can see you and your position at the keyboard is of great benefit. You will be able to see me sitting at my piano.
Firstly I would like to mention that most of my lessons, particularly for beginners, are thirty minutes long and cost £18.50. I also charge a little extra if I am coming out to your home. Fifty minute lessons at £22.50 are usually offered to those of Grade 2 ability and above.
I teach those who wish to learn as a hobby from ages 6 to adult of any age. I no longer support students wanting to take ABRSM examinations.
I always aim to develop lessons that support the individual, and enthuse, inspire and make learning a fun experience. Everybody learns at different speeds, experience different confidence levels and have varying expectations. All of this is brought together as part of my approach to lessons to help the student progress at a rate that motivates them.
I create my own worksheets to help with theory and use rewards to motivate such as fun stickers and achievement certificates.
