Hi! I am an experienced musician and specialise in jazz sax, but also teach all styles of alto and tenor sax up to grade 8. I also offer lessons in violin (excluding absolute beginner), music theory and improvisation.
I have worked extensively as a physics and maths tutor in schools and in private. I have teached a range of age groups from 11 to 18 and a wide range of abilities. I have experience working both with small groups and one-to-one.
Learning an instrument should never feel like a chore. It may be occasionally tough, boring and frustrating, but I hope that my tutees will always feel like they want to learn and practice.
For this reason, my lessons are centred on the type of music my tutees want to play, while I guide the development of their musicality and technique.
I tend to be less grading-orientated than more orthodox tutors. However, I fully appreciate that many students want to pursue examinations. I am more than happy to guide and prepare tutees for their examinations .
