Personal Description:

I am an experienced multi-instrumentalist, teacher, composer and specialist of Jazz Piano. I held a residency at Park House on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk and since graduating from Birmingham Conservatoire, have been in several bands performing on the Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show for 6 Music and festivals in Norway and Russia. I have played high prestigious events such as a private house warming party for the boss of IBM, an exclusive corporate shopping event at Selfridges, Red or Dead fashion designer Wayne Hemingway's 25th wedding anniversary and many contracts for Disney Cruise Line. I have also had a lot of teaching experience with both adults and children alike of all ages and abilities. My extensive knowledge of music from classical to modern pop tunes means I can make learning fun and teach a variety of styles.

Tutoring Experience:

PRIVATE PIANO / WOODWIND TEACHER, 2011 -2017
Teaching and preparing students of all ages from beginner to Grade 8 standard on Piano, Saxophone, Clarinet and Flute for exams and for fun. Assisting in helping with GCSE music work.
PIANO / WOODWIND TEACHER, MUSIKADEMY, KING'S LYNN, NORFOLK - 2010-2011
Teaching people of all ages and abilities piano, clarinet, flute and saxophone.

Tutoring Approach:

To ensure an effective class for the students, a good teacher should
always recognise and minimize worry and tension;
makes children or adults feel good about themselves, recognising that they are individuals and need individual attention;
believe strongly in a work ethos and on-task behaviour, but does this without negative pressure;
view the children and parents in a positive way and understands that there should be a working partnership;
emphasise praise rather than criticism;
recognise and use enthusiasm, talent and individuality;
see outcomes as varying and interesting; see grades as the best way to incorporate basic skills;
see creativity and curiosity as the key to learning experiences;
see change as positive and necessary in any inspired institution;
vary teaching styles to suit the content and the pupil.
