Personal Description:

Ryan is a Session Drummer with over 8 years of experience. Currently hitting the skins for Brighton’s pop collab ‘Phantom Runners’ signed to Killing Moon Records and London’s singer/songwriter ‘REVILO’ signed to ATC Management. He is creative and well rehearsed with live electronics, incorporating SPD-SX, loops, triggers and backing tracks. A marksman when it comes with playing to a click both live and in the studio. Competent sight reader and musical repertoire after drumming for Wizard of Oz and Hairspray this year. Pro gear, fast learner and adapts like a chameleon to the situation at hand. Other current gigs are a mix of function, party bands and regular dep work. Recent performances include playing alongside Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry and stages including: Silverstone, Big Tribute Festival, Jazz Cafe Camden, Under The Bridge, o2 Islington, 02 Empire and many more.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught students at home for the last two years alongside my Pedagogy teaching module at University and have built upon my base of students since.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to music tuition will vary greatly depending on the level of the student and the individual needs. Regardless of the student I will always ask them what they enjoy and try to work around that because the learning process will be faster and more effective if the student enjoys it. For an absolute beginner the aim will be to get the student having fun and playing along to songs as quickly as possible so they can gain a love for the instrument while developing skills and then gradually more skilled exercises can be worked in. For an advanced player, playing along to songs wouldn't teach them much so I would focus more specifically on what the student wants to improve on, ie. groove and time feel or technique.
