She holds an ABRSM Grade 8 Distinction in Harp, as well as Grade 8 Clarinet and Saxophone and Grade 7 Piano.
Harp performance includes her concerto debut at the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall in 2019, performing live as a soloist on BBC Radio Lincolnshire, and the premiere of her concert Reimagined for electric harp and chamber ensemble in February 2019, including her own compositions. She is the current selected collaborator with the Future Blend Project and her work is soon to be published by PoppyHarp.
Orchestral experience includes The University of York Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and the Chimera Ensemble. She was also invited to join York's leading Chamber Orchestra for their 40th Gala Concert, in 2018. I have experience teaching one-to-one lessons to pupils ranging from primary education to university students, to adult learners, including retirees. I can help students progress through ABRSM/Trinity grades if that is desired; during my last exam entries, the three students I entered gained a distinction in their exam. Alternatively, students may also prefer not to sit exams so the lessons focus on technique and the exploration of music which interests them. So far, this has included folk music from all over the world, pop, jazz, classical and composition.
Group teaching has included leading workshops in schools to classes of primary school children and volunteering with the Music in Education Group in York.
For vocal teaching, I specialise in Musical Theatre as per my training. I offer classical or musical theatre tuition for Grades 1-4, but I will only teach Musical Theatre for Grade 5 and above.
I believe that everybody has the capacity to make music and that the individuals passions and skills should be explored. For this reason, lesson pace and structure is tailored to each student. If the student chooses to progress through graded exams, understanding of exam pieces musical features and context generally accompanies related technical, compositional and music theory exercises. Wider musical engagement is encouraged.
