Information About Ruth - Buckingham teacher
This is how 3 referees rated Ruth:
Over the past thirty years I have performed in groups ranging from Youth Wind Bands to City Symphony Orchestras as well as solo playing for award winning concert bands. I have performed extensively, throughout the country as well as in Europe and America.
I led a professional music group playing wind, reed, voice and strings for 17 years, making three CDs and appearing on radio and TV.
My roles have included Head of Music, visiting lecturer and principle soloist as well as owner of a successful music shop.
I am a Licentiate and a Fellow of the Trinity College London.
Throughout this extensive experience I have continued to teach and am particularly proud of my 100% pass rate with the ABRSM.
I have been teaching for 35 years, along side performance, direction, composition and management. I have taught in school and privately, in groups and individually. I have taught all ages and abilities and enjoy it all. Complete beginners who have never picked up a clarinet have passed grade 4 in the first year and I have seen pupils nervously off to the Royal School of Music to start their exciting careers.
Lessons always start away from the music stand. Listening is the key, timing is the king. Scales and exercises generally form the warm up. Pieces of all styles are learnt and exams taken if the pupil requires. I also play the piano so pieces are accompanied where appropriate giving the pupil experience of playing together. I regularly have group music nights where pupils can experience the ensemble sound and I try to develope the whole person in practical musicianship.
