Personal Description:

I am an experienced music teacher with a creative approach to music education. Professionally, I balance freelance flute playing with teaching music in a nursery/ primary school and privately. I am a graduate of the University of Cambridge where I studied music, before I completed my masters' in flute performance at the Royal Northern College of Music, supported by a full ABRSM scholarship.

My aim is for my students to have fun and enjoy music making, but I also push those students who desire to be stretched. I am a friendly and enthusiastic person who seeks to get the very best out of all her students.

I am also DBS checked.

Tutoring Experience:

I have a great wealth of experience in working with children: I have worked in nursery, primary and secondary schools, as well as in music groups for children and young people with special needs.

I enjoy working with all age groups, through to adults, but have specialist experience working with children aged 3-9 and believe this is a crucial age to develop creativity and a love of music.

Tutoring Approach:

I love music and I love teaching music, and I try to impart this on my students through student-led, curious, enjoyable and imaginative practices. I find this can lead to excellent development!

My love of music education extends to research in music pedagogies, notably Dalcroze and Kodaly. Their use of movement and the voice is an effective and fun way of engaging and learning about music, while also developing the holistic person. In all, I work hard to ensure music lessons are accessible, productive and fun!
