Personal Description:

I am a freelance musician based in Cambridge who specialises in all things keyboard related.

With over 20 years of playing experience, both as a solo performer and as part of various groups, I am well versed in many musical styles including: Blues, Neo-Soul, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Classical and Post-classical.

So whether you're looking to re-harmonise your favourite pop song, learn how to create synth sounds for a band or become a great improviser, don't hesitate to get in touch!

I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and can carry out lessons remotely if preferred.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching students in a variety of styles for over 8 years. This includes children attending primary school and older students who have retired and have decided to take up a new hobby.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is very much student led and focuses on achieving an enjoyment of playing and creating music. One of my key skills is improvisation particularly in Jazz, Neo-Soul and Blues styles, this feeds into my lessons and allows students to enjoy the wonder of creating original music within framework of these styles.

With this approach I include a healthy dose of music theory. This does not mean lots of written homework but rather short bursts, when appropriate, to help students understand what is going on and why. I believe this ultimately lets students become more independent with their music making whether, alone, with friends or in school music classes.
