Hi! I am a friendly, patient and qualified piano teacher with several years teaching experience who will travel to teach at your home. I am a composer for film and TV, and come from a music production background. I've written pieces of music for shows such as 'Bear Grylls: Escape From Hell' and 'The Taste' with Nigella Lawson, as well as writing regularly for music libraries such as Universal, BMG, Shutterstock, and Sync Tracks. I grew up learning classical piano, and now do all my composing work from my keyboard in my studio. I teach all ages, and feel that I am a passionate and inspiring teacher. Students most suitable for me are beginners to intermediate in piano, beginners for guitar, all levels for music production, beginners to intermediate for theory.
I have taught for several years, mostly children though I have taught a handful of adults too and am at ease with both.
Rob is such a wonderful piano teacher. He taught my son, in our home, for 18 months; from absolute beginner. He made every lesson fun and interesting for Leo… and it was super inspiring to hear Rob play - he’s a beautiful musician. I highly recommend Rob and trust him completely.
Rob taught our son Tom aged 9 for 1 year in Melbourne… would highly recommend him. Inspiring and a fantastic musician, he engaged well with our son and we were sorry to see him head back to the UK.
The piano work Rob did with my son made a significant difference to his playing ability, with a marked improvement in both his attitude and motivation towards learning music in general. Rob's teaching style really made a huge difference and I am sure will have a lasting effect on my son's musical education for the rest of his life. A very big thank you to Rob.
I have a good knowledge of many genres and will tailor my teaching depending on what you would like to focus on. In lessons I focus on having fun whilst making sure to teach the practicalities of playing as well as music theory and knowledge of musical styles. Fun and focused. I like to find out what the student likes listening to or enjoys in some other way, maybe they love a certain film or computer game and I can transcribe or purchase the music for them so they can enjoy learning to play more due to their connection with the music.
