Personal Description:

Hey guys,

What a time to learn music to reduce your stress!

My name is Rob**Removed By Admin**. I have been teaching guitar, ukulele, keyboard, percussion, song writing and meditation to adults and children (aged 5 to 75) of all ages for around 17 years now, both privately and in dozens of schools across London, Somerset and East Yorkshire.

I am perfectly happy to have a skype or zoom lesson. I am also happy to travel around Hull and the surrounding area, or have lessons here (I have a big house in Beverley & free parking 24/7) with or without a face shield/social distancing :) It's your call.

So, back to the 17 years of music tuition - for 6 of these years I was a Lead Tutor for the Mayor of Newham's 'Every Child a Musician' program, teaching groups and individuals at many many primary and secondary schools in East London. It was probably here I earned my stripes.

For 2 years after that I was the Music Teacher for the LEAP Federation schools in Hackney, where I taught guitar, ukulele and keyboard to those 250 students a week in 3 very good schools. Jarvis Cocker's daughter was a regular student of mine.

I guarantee fun and productive lessons always! I have moved to Beverley for the friendliness and change of pace :)

I have played in lots of bands and have been broadcast playing music on BBC radio and Channel 4**Removed By Admin** I also have an up to date CRB certificate (done in November 2020), which I will happily show to students and parents upon request.

Tutoring Experience:

Hmm… I already basically covered this in the previous section didn't I?! Haha. Well a few extra details - I have taught students aged 5 to aged 75 in my home/their home for nearly 20 years and I teach you what you actually want to learn to play! (as well as teaching you that solid foundation of basic technique of course). I am very patient, friendly and the LEAP Federation schools in Hackney stopped using the local music services and replaced them all with me.

I have a very calm, fun approach and (sorry to toot my own trumpet again) many students have said I'm the best teacher they've ever had for any subject.
A recruitment agent recently said the reference he read from the Head Teacher of my previous school was the best he'd seen in his 5 year career! :)

Tutoring Approach:

I guarantee our lessons will be enjoyable, with quick inspirational progress at your own pace.

And, as previously stated, I will teach you songs you actually want to learn! (As well as what I feel it is necessary to learn to establish that sound foundation). I won't be forcing any unwanted Mozart on anyone, but if you want to learn him it's Mozart for the hour.

If you want to learn pop songs we will mostly focus on that style of playing. Likewise if you want to go the pure theory route I also have the resources appropriate for that. Same with Blues, Rock, Folk, Punk, Indie… I also always include some creative improvisation in my lessons - I actually find this the main key to progression and instrument confidence.

Prices are £30 per hour for 1 student, £40 per hour for 2 students and £50 per hour for 3 students. These prices include books, tablature sheets, stickers, badges and other resources that students can keep indefinitely.

Oh and see my 'testimonials' section for what other students/schools have to say about me :)

See you soon, Rob.
