Information About Reuben - Swaffham teacher

Personal Description:

I am a professional jazz pianist with 17 years experience. I was classically trained for many years, achieving Grade 8 on both piano and cello with distinction. I have experience of orchestral, small group and solo playing on both instruments. I regularly perform across London in a range of genres including jazz, folk, blues, rock and classical, and am willing to teach all of these.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching privately for 10 years. I have also been a Learning Assistant on the jazz course at Middlesex University for the last 2 years. I have experience teaching both practical and theoretical music.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to music put emphasis on the mental side as well as the physical side of music. I focus heavily on technique as this is indispensable, but I also focus on mental state, relaxation and focus as you are playing, as this is just as important. I prefer to let my students pick their repertoire if they want, but if they do not have a preference then I have a vast catalogue of music which I can suggest. My main targets when teaching are to invoke confidence, conviction and passion for what my student is playing.
