Rebecca offers a FREE first / introductory lesson!
Rebecca is a professional freelance musician, performing and teaching across West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester. A graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Rebecca studied viola with Louise Lansdown, Robin Ireland and Lucy Nolan. In addition to her freelance work, Rebecca is currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music on the Master's course, under the tuition of Vicci Wardman. Her studies have kindly been supported by a scholarship from the William and Frances Dobie Charitable Foundation.
A passionate orchestral player, Rebecca has performed and trained with several professional orchestras including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, the Hallé, London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Musical Theatre Orchestra and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra
Rebecca has taught extensively as a private violin and viola tutor. Between 2016 and 2019 she was an Upper Strings Tutor for Sandwell Music and Arts Service, teaching one-to-one lessons in schools around West Bromwich, coaching young string ensembles and conducting the Mini Maestros junior string orchestra. As a previous member of the Cerulean String Trio she led interactive musical workshops in nurseries, SEN schools and care homes. During her undergraduate degree, she mentored for the ARCO project, a long-distance learning initiative between the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and young musicians from the Morris Isaacson Centre for Music, Soweto, South Africa. Rebecca currently teaches violin and viola at Hanson Community Arts in Marsden.
I provide one-to-one teaching in both Violin and Viola. All ages and abilities are welcome, whether you hope to study music at a higher level, are preparing for an exam or audition, are a new learner or simply looking to play for fun!
I endeavour to provide comprehensive, versatile and enjoyable tuition for upper-string players. During lessons we will focus on:
Developing note reading and music theory skills
Developing listening/aural skills
Exploring different musical genres, styles and repertoire
Improving confidence in performance
Promoting freedom of movement and reducing muscular tension
Developing ensemble skills
Learning how to practise effectively
