Personal Description:

Originally from Canada, I am currently a first-year Masters student at the Royal Academy of Music studying with Richard Ireland. Since being here in London, I have been in the Academy Symphony Orchestra every term and recently was the leader of the Academy Musical Theatre Orchestra.

I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Violin Performance from Brigham Young University--Idaho where I had many solo, chamber, and orchestral opportunities, such as soloing with the University Orchestra, winning chamber competitions with my quartet, and leading the BYU-I Symphony Orchestra, Baroque Ensemble, and Sinfonietta.

Outside of music, I enjoy hiking in the mountains (not something I've been able to do in London!), going on picnics, reading, adventuring, and eating sweets.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching private violin lessons for 6 years to students of varying ages and skill levels, from 5-year-old beginners to college-level music majors. I also taught violin lessons as an adjunct professor at Brigham Young University-Idaho for 7 months in between graduation and moving to London for my Masters.

Tutoring Approach:

I hold a firm belief that music-making should be at the forefront of studying an instrument. Developing mature technical skills will also be a focus in our lessons so that the student can have the tools to express themselves using their own musical voice. I believe that this whole learning process can be great fun and that it should be adapted to each student and their needs/wants/goals. If a student wants to do the ABRSM or equivalent exams, great! We can work toward those. If a student prefers to not do exams, great! We can make our own unique plans and goals.
