Hi! I graduated in 2019 from the Royal Academy of Music, where I studied with Felix Schmidt. I also studied at the Royal college of Music Junior Department from 2009-2015 with Michal Kaznowski, where I was awarded several prizes and was invited to perform solo at the Wigmore Hall. During my studies I have had masterclasses with Colin Carr, Mario Brunello, Steven Doane and Alexander Baillie, amongst others. I play with Mousai Quartet, a London based string quartet who have studied with the Maggini string quartet and members of the London Haydn Quartet, and were highly commended in the Wolfe Wolfingsohn string quartet prize at the Royal Academy of Music in 2019. Recently I have performed at the Wigmore hall and recorded in Aldeburgh with a string ensemble directed by Trevor Pinnock.
I have had about 6 years of experience working with both classes and one-to-one tuition. I have given sectionals for youth orchestras at the Potters Bar Music Service and St Albans High School for Girls. As well this I have worked (while at studying at the Royal Academy of Music) on many Open Academy outreach projects, where we worked in local hospitals and schools with both adults and children.
My primary aim when teaching is to inspire the student with a love for music and the cello. I am happy to work through grades with students, as I feel that they can often provide goals and an incentive to work for. However, I do not feel that they are a necessity, and am happy to work at whatever pace a student wants to work at. I never teach without having my cello out, in order to demonstrate, and try to work on both technique and an individual's musical exploration in equal parts.
