Information About Ray - Harlow teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Ray:
I am an established professional piano teacher from London since 2005, having moved to Harlow in 2011.
I also teach music theory up to Grade 5 which lets you enter ABRSM's advanced instrumental and vocal Grades 6 to 8.
I play piano and sing to a level higher than professional diploma and after 30 years am seasoned on the practical sides of performing solo and in a wide variety of musical arenas.
During school years I achieved distinction in Grade 8 piano & Grade 8 singing & Music A'level. I have won several competitions in both fields, accompanied singers & musicians from gospel to opera, exams to parties and hotels. I've sung at the West End, London and still sing lead roles in opera, musicals, concerts & events. I recently wrote & taught a foundation course for singers at an Iranian church. I lead, play, sing, write and arrange music at church and do concerts and community outreach events with Heart 4 Harlow.
My approach is fun and friendly and based on rapport and encouraging a desire for enjoying the piano and achieving any goals set. I always keep a professional eye on all aspects of musical and technical development so any student becomes well rounded and capable.
If you are a casual learner I can teach you to play whatever you like or if you prefer the classical exam route I have an advantage in that area. For the last seven years I've worked for the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) helping with the graded and diploma exams. I have a lot of inside knowledge as to how to get the best results. I have taken 18 ABRSM exams myself so have lots of exam hints and tips for great results!
Additional Skills & Qualifications
With a BSc (Hons) in Pure Maths & numerous IT qualifications including Accredited Compaq Technician, I am well versed in using computers and technology which these days enhances the learning speed and depth of understanding of anyone learning.
In 2001-2005 I studied mind & memory which assists in a variety of aspects of learning music - confidence, motivation, attention to detail, memorising, creativity, etc. I'll show you how to develop your home practice technique to achieve even higher standards than you would normally… and you can say goodbye to nerves too and enjoy your playing as you should!
As a dedicated Christian I work using the values of encouragement, truth, integrity, commitment & caring and I aim to nurture these values in any student while they are learning with me.
I am CRB checked (Enhanced level) 2007 & 2012.
