I was brought up in a music-loving family and began playing the violin at the age of 7. I started the piano when I was 10 and haven't looked back. A few years ago, I fulfilled a lifetime ambition and took up the flute. My name is Rachael and I live in Freshwater. I am married, have an 11 year old child and a very friendly labrador. I enjoy playing the piano and flute, spending time with my family, walking, reading and puzzles.
Qualifiying over 7 years ago, I have taught in a number of schools (primary, junior, middle and secondary) both on the mainland and here on the Isle of Wight. I have worked with children across Key Stages 1 and 2, teaching all curriculum subjects including Numeracy and Literacy and taught English to Key Stage 3 students.
I began teaching piano 18 years ago and I have taught both children and adults. All of my pupils who have taken ABRSM examinations have been successful. In addition to teaching the piano I also offer music theory tuition. I teach up to Grade 5.
I am a very patient and friendly person who thrives on seeing learners achieve their best. I am highly organised, efficient and reliable and work hard in everything I do. My teaching is tailored to meet the needs of the individual. Parental involvement is greatly encouraged and parents may wait, especially when young children are being tutored. Lessons may be 30, 45 or 60 minutes depending upon the need to the tutee.

Just what I needed
Feeling positive and excited and really looking forward to my lessons now.
I am a mature student who had lost confidence.
Rachael has re-kindled my enjoyment in playing and also my interest in some basic theory.
She is patient and has sensitive understanding of her pupils' needs and mode of learning and adapts her lessons accordingly.
I have learned so much in the short time I have been with her and really look forward to my lessons.
