Personal Description:

*CAN TEACH ONLINE* I am 21 years old and am in my final year studying music at the University of Manchester, now based in my home county of Warwickshire/Northants. I aim to develop musical creativity, technique and enjoyment through my teaching, am friendly and flexible, and love to teach all ages and abilities. My previous violin teacher Alan Broadbent has left me with both a love of violin playing and a need to inspire others in developing a similar passion! In my spare time I enjoy art and going up my allotment.

Tutoring Experience:

I have 15 years of experience within the music industry through learning violin, playing and leading orchestras and studying music at higher education. I have taught a number of pupils, varying in both age and experience - from grade 1 to 7 and from age 8 to 50 years old! I have also had experience running a primary school choir and assisting with classroom music teaching for several weeks.

Tutoring Approach:

I take an approach to teaching which aims to suit all individual needs. I am keen to build a strong foundation in violin technique and playing within beginner and younger students. This, I believe, is vital in reaching more advanced levels of violin playing. I teach using pieces from both the ABRSM and Trinity grade books and from my own knowledge of repertoire as whilst I believe grades are important in motivating younger students, building a firm knowledge of technique and repertoire is just as necessary.

I always aim to balance technique with enjoyment by putting the students preferences over repertoire choice at the forefront of playing. I feel that it is important to not only play a piece, but learn about the history and setting surrounding it and so try to incorporate this into my teaching as much as possible. I always try to go the extra mile for students, be that through creating practice exercises or recording video tutorials. My teaching is flexible, as I tailor each lesson to meet the students goals and aspirations.

I enjoy teaching students both face to face and over video call where necessary.
