Phil offers a FREE first / introductory lesson!
I teach mainly adults: from complete beginners who have been harbouring a secret wish to learn to play the violin/viola one day, to those who are returning to their instrument after maybe many years. I teach all styles (I have played/play in symphony orchestras, chamber groups, rock and folks bands). I have until recently been a 1st violinist in a local Symphony Orchestra and the fiddle player in a ceilidh band.
I am only available during the working day and am only accepting new students who are able to travel to me.
I have been teaching the violin for 13 years with pupils ranging from 6 to over 80 years old, from beginners to post-Grade VIII. I can also teach viola.
I generally do not do grades with adults, unless they wish to do so (which they haven't so far!) and have a flexible teaching approach as, in my experience with adults, each person comes with their own musical background and understanding. I have many teaching resources and styles to draw from. I am happy to cover all sorts of musical styles from classical to folk.
