Personal Description:

I am a classical pianist and double bassist having recently graduated with a Masters (distinction) in performance from the University of York. Since then I have been offered a place to study fortepiano at the Royal College of Music in London, but instead have decided to focus on teaching. I have gained valuable experience performing both with the University of York Music department and professionally on piano, harpsichord, organ, clavichord and fortepiano as a soloist, accompanist and in ensembles. I also resided as principle double bassist for the University of York Symphony Orchestra, Baroque Ensemble and Chimera contemporary music ensemble and have performed professionally as an orchestral bassist for numerous ensembles.

I am able to offer half-hour/hourly tuition on piano, double bass, and theory to all ages and any abilities. This includes preparation for ABRSM/Trinity Guildhall examinations and diplomas (for which I am available for accompanying), sightreading/aural skills tests, and GCSE/AS/A-Level examinations or coursework.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught both piano and double bass for several years and recently taught in Northern Ireland with Enact Music as well as teaching privately.

Tutoring Approach:

My lessons aim to bring out the best in each student, whether a complete beginner or advanced. I work with each individual to help them achieve their own personal goals whilst working towards a high level of performance. Excellent technique is encouraged to aid injury free playing and put students in good steed for a life-long love of performing.
