Personal Description:

I am very friendly and enthusiastic and am very passionate about music. I love all genres of music, and love teaching even more. I find great joy in seeing a pupil progress through practice and encouragement. I come from a family of musicians. My father is a successful composer, pianist and organist. My mother, a pianist and flautist, is an exceptional teacher and musician. Music has been and remains my life and my passion regardless of genre and style. Now settled in Rushden, I hope to be able to continue through my teaching to share with others the joy that music has given me and to work with enthusiastic and passiona**Contact Detail Removed**arners, young and old.

Tutoring Experience:

I am a highly trained and experienced pianist, having achieved Grade 8 under the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music at the age of 12. I have given many public performances at such venues as The Anvil International Concert Hall, The Festival Theatre (Maltings) in Aldeburgh and Bracknell Arts Centre. I performed in a regular series of public recitals at Lord Wandsworth College, where I trained classically but also took part in many musical theatre performances.

In the field of Secondary Education I have provided vocal coaching, piano teaching and choral studies at The Vyne Performing Arts School to children aged between 10 and 16. I have accompanied students for instrumental examinations, and assisted students in the performance element of GCSE music examinations. I continue to direct my own independent music teaching practice for both children and adults in Rushden.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching style is relaxed but professional. It's so important to allow the student to feel at ease in a friendly atmosphere. I very much build the lesson to suit the students needs. My initial assessment is to gauge what the student wants out of the lessons, beit just to have fun and learn casually or to take examinations and work towards a goal. The first lesson is also about finding their niche and what THEY like, and advise them accordingly. A typical lesson would begin with excercises to warm up, then practising the piece/song we have selected, and end with a performance of what they have learnt so far, recapping what I have said and discussing what they will need to practise before their next lesson.
