I have Grade 8 piano (Associated Board) and have been playing since 1971. I play a wide range of repertoire from all musical eras. Music keeps me young…
I cover music theory as well as practical playing. I have had very good results, many of my Associated Board students have passed with distinction.

Pauline’s teaching is based on enjoyment and she gives lots of positive feedback and offers a varied range of pieces. Our daughter has passed three grades with distinction and one with a merit and this is testament to Pauline’s rigorous teaching methods.

I really enjoy having piano lessons with Pauline, I feel like I have improved my music reading which makes me feel more confident when I play the piano. Pauline sets me good theory tasks, which helps me a lot. I find Pauline a very friendly and reliable person.

As someone who left school nearly forty years ago, I was somewhat daunted at having lessons again but I needn't have been. Pauline has always put me at ease, dealt professionally with my specific requirements, coped patiently with my inadequacies, inspired me to play at a much higher level and made every lesson a pleasure. I will continue to seek her expertise and highly recommend her to fellow students of all ages.
I treat each student as an individual and tune into their specific needs and adapt my teaching style appropriately. Some students like to work on music theory and take examinations and others like to play for pleasure. I include a broad range of repertoire and let students bring music that they wish to learn but I offer plenty of guidance on 'pleasure' piece choices. I draw from my many years of enjoyment of the instrument. If the pupil enjoys playing, he/she will go far… either by having a wonderful hobby 'for life' … or by progressing on to more serious study within the field of music. My approach is very thorough - I teach in a methodical way and keep the lessons enjoyable. I always ensure that all information that I have passed on to my pupils is clearly understood; giving a solid foundation of knowledge of all things musical. The year's timetable includes ABRSM exams and an annual concert for families and friends, giving an opportunity to play wonderful repertoire in a public venue. Please note that I charge up to an extra £2 (depending on distance from home) for music lessons given in a pupil's home.
