Information About Paul - Bridport teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Paul:
I AM NOW ACCEPTING STUDENTS WHO WOULD LIKE TO LEARN BY VIDEO LINK, USING FACETIME.
If you are thinking of taking up or re-starting the piano, or looking for a teacher for your child, I am a friendly and approachable piano, organ and singing teacher and I am fully qualified as a music teacher from Oxford University's Education Department (Westminster College). In 2003 I received an Honorary Fellowship from the National College of Music, London for services to music. I enjoy teaching young students as much as I do teaching older people, and at the time of writing my youngest student is 7 and my oldest, who passed his fellowship diploma last year, is in his 70s. I am an examiner for the National College of Music and until last year (2018) I was a member of the team of lunchtime organ recitalists at Sherborne Abbey for four years.
I have many successful years of experience, both as a class teacher in junior and senior schools and as a private music teacher. I have taught students on the piano and on the organ up to and including Grade 8 of the Associated Board examination system and to diploma level for the National College of Music, London and although I use the exams of both boards I don't require any of my pupils to take exams if they just want to learn to play for pleasure.
Music-making should always be enjoyable. I like to be rigorous of course, but I want my pupils to enjoy their lessons with me as much as I enjoyed mine. One of my students was kind enough to write recently in a testimonial:
'The style and pace of Paul's teaching is perfectly suited to my needs which no doubt is down to his skill and ability to assess what is needed in an individual situation. As an accomplished musician, the depth and insight into musical matters make my lessons with him all the more inspirational. I feel more motivated that ever and I am really enjoying my music.'
And here are a few other comments that my students have been kind enough to offer:
'In six months I have made more progress than I thought possible.'
'Paul, you are easy to work with, and your outstanding musicianship makes it a pleasure.'
'I really enjoyed my organ lesson. There's something very appealing and compelling about making music almost out of the very fabric of the building.'
