Personal Description:

Hi, I'm Paul; a brass, piano and theory/composition teacher based in Hamilton, Lanarkshire. I am a recent graduate of London's Royal College of Music where I studied Composition for Screen and graduated with Distinction. I teach brass (exc. trombone) to a high level as well as piano up to approximately Grade 5. As a composer for screen I can also offer teaching in music theory and composition technique as well as compositional software such as Sibelius/Cubase etc.

Lessons are charged at £30/hr and £15/half hr. Consultation lessons are half price!

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught brass and piano for several years to a variety of levels and age groups (from 5 year olds to 60 year olds!) as well as experience in teaching beginner and intermediate level theory.

As a performer I have been an active soloist and ensemble player, playing tuba in several ensembles within Strathclyde University in a wide variety of styles including orchestra, brass band and even jazz tuba.

Tutoring Approach:

I am enthusiastic about teaching at all levels and very much enjoy it. My teaching is thorough and concise, ensuring that my students progress at a good rate whilst building solid foundations. However, I believe it equally important that my students enjoy their lessons as well; playing an instrument can be great fun and it always should be great fun! I endeavour to ensure that all my students enjoy their lessons whilst being motivated at being able to see their own progress. If this sounds like the kind of thing you are looking for, then please do get in touch!
