Information About Paul - Bristol teacher - (1 review)
This is how 4 referees rated Paul:
I am an active performing musician, tutor, and published music scholar who has recently relocated to Bristol. Having graduated with first class honours in music from Edinburgh University, I am in the final stages of submitting my PhD in musicology.
As a performer, I have featured on BBC Radio 2, 3, & 4, as well as many local radio stations. I am signed to RareNoise Records in London, and have toured internationally throughout North & South America, China, and throughout Europe, as well as performing at many UK festivals (Glastonbury, Bestival, Wilderness, Boomtown, etc.).
My practical experience has come from many diverse projects, and different musical styles: classical music, latin, jazz & blues. I bring my practical experience to my teaching, helping my students to become versatile musicians.
I have eight years teaching experience with one-to-one tuition of all abilities. As part of my capacity as a PhD student I have lectured & tutored in music at The University of Edinburgh, and in 2016 was nominated for, and won the Edinburgh Teaching Awards (`Best Student Who Teaches`). One of my students who nominated me wrote:
"Paul is always keen to help and provides detailed, high-quality answers, taking no shortcuts and always working hard to ensure we understand the material. He creates a positive atmosphere in all his tutorials. I truly feel Paul has been a source of inspiration".
I strive to teach my students not only to become talented pianists, but talented rounded musicians. For this reason I like to take beginner students who are new to the instrument. I provide engaging pieces of (sheet) music that gradually develop and understanding of the instrument and the theory behind it. Travel out to student's home is included in fee.
