I am a composer and PhD student based in York. My first study instrument during my BA in Music was the trumpet.
I write modern classical music for orchestral instruments, but am interested in music of all kinds.
As a composer I have worked with the London Philharmonia Orchestra, the Britten Sinfonia and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, amongst many others. My music has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and played at the Royal Festival Hall and Wigmore Hall. (See **E-mail Address Removed** for more.)
I have taught a wide variety of age groups, from primary school students to postgraduates. This has included both private lessons and classes.
2017-Present: Composition lessons to A-level classes as part of the University of York outreach project (at York College; St John Rigby College, Wigan; Ripley St Thomas Church of England Academy, Lancaster)
2015-Present: Composition seminars with undergraduates and masters students
2013-Present: Private tuition (beginner trumpet and theory up to ABRSM Grade 8)
I am happy to tailor lessons to what you would like to get out of them, be that working through grades or more casual tuition. Either way, I think the most important thing is to approach music with a sense of enthusiasm and fun.
