Personal Description:
I am an official artist with Faith Guitars and Timberline Guitars and have played at some of the biggest guitar shows in the world. I have created several viral guitar videos with millions of views each and have ongoing content creation deals with several companies.
I have a PhD in musicology from Durham University, along with a Masters of Music, Post-graduate Diploma and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Surrey.
I have over 15 years of teaching, recording and performing experience and am director of the guitar school East London Music.
I run a regular open mic night at Temple of Art and Music in London Bridge. I have played with Rick Wakeman and Sue Perkins in the Orion Orchestra, with the Albert Hall House band and with the Royal College of Music Orchestra; I have played at the Royal Festival Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, The Scala, the Festival Halls, the Cheltenham Jazz Festival and various other places.
I won an Arts and Humanities Research Council award for PhD study.
Tutoring Experience:
I have a fully operational studio available near Canary Wharf, with high-end hardware and software as well as video recording capabilities.
I run my own teaching agency called East London Music
I have delivered guitar and string teaching provision to many schools and colleges across London; I worked for the Triborough Music Hub for 7 years, the BYMT for 10 years; I also worked for MTech Music services and have had several direct appointments at private schools teaching guitar.
Tutoring Approach:
I aim to offer bespoke courses to students, tailored to your particular strengths, weaknesses and goals. I offer tuition on all styles, incorporating technique, music theory and performance (song-learning). Lessons should be fun and engaging, since guitar music is extremely rich and diverse: there will always be some technique, song, lick or sound out there to inspire you!
