Personal Description:

Piano has been a part of my life since I was a young girl. I first learnt how to play piano in my home country and took part in various piano competitions and concerts all over the country, winning first place in many competitions. I moved to Scotland when I was a teenager and after I played in my local school concert, I was offered a scholarship with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (Juniors). I studied piano, percussion and music theory with the RCS in Glasgow where I played in solo piano concerts, competitions as well as with orchestras and bands as a percussionist. Music is a huge part of my life and a means of expressing myself, as well as developing my brain and my creativity. I strongly believe that all children should learn how to play an instrument and form a relationship with music.

Tutoring Experience:

I taught piano to children and young people since I was in my late teens and I am a qualified Grade VIII ABRSM piano teacher. I also have the VIII ABRSM Percussion (drum kit and percussion instruments) diploma. I believe in a relaxed approach where I support children in learning piano in a fun and engaging way. I believe face to face classes are the best way to learn - I can offer 1:1 from my home where I have a Knight Classical Piano or I am happy to travel to your home if you have a keyboard/piano available. I do not offer online sessions.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach the basic music theory necessary to learn in order to play piano. In addition to teaching you how to read music and the theory behind it I teach how to play, practice and offer various exercises in developing musical skills. I can assist children/young people with their Higher/Advanced Higher Music exams or sitting the ABRSM music tests for piano and theory. It is important for children to express themselves through music and choose the pieces they want to learn that they enjoy listening to. Learning music should be fun and not a "chore".

The sessions are usually 30-45 minutes long depending on the age of the student. All sessions must be paid in advance and there is a 24-hour cancellation policy that applies.
