Information About Oliver - York teacher

Personal Description:

Thank you for clicking on my profile and wanting to learn about music.

I am a Music Graduate from the University of York and hold a BA (Hons) degree in Music and an MA in Composition. I specialise in the Trombone, Trumpet, Bass Guitar, Composition and Arranging for bands - I have arranged close to 100 tunes for my 8 piece Wedding & Function band.

My previous teachers include Edward Hoyle, Gregg Banks and award winning trombonist, Dennis Rollins. My composition tutors have included Ambrose Field, Martin Suckling, Thomas Simaku, Federico Reuben, John Stringer and Roger Marsh.

I enjoy teaching all styles of music including but not limited to Jazz, Funk, Classical, Contemporary Classical and Popular music.

I currently have several spaces available for Conducting students. I have conducted a lot of difficult, modern classical repertoire through the York Composers Collective and videos can be viewed on request.

I am also available for GCSE and A Level performance coaching on all Brass instruments and for composition assessments.

Tutoring Experience:

I have a range of teaching experience including all brass instruments, keyboards, composition, theory and conducting.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to music tuition varies from pupil to pupil. Some wish to work towards graded music exams and others want to learn for fun; both a valid reasons to want music lessons and I pride myself on my ability to tailor lessons to an individual. There is no "play it like me otherwise you're wrong" approach in my lessons.
