Personal Description:

I am a jazz and pop saxophonist based in South-West London. Having graduated from the University of Southampton in 2019 with a First Class Honours degree in Music BA (including an exceptional First Class in Performance), I now teach within the music department of a local private school as well as performing regularly in function bands based across the UK.

Whilst being a passionate perfromer on both alto/tenor saxophone and keyboard, I am also an aspiring composer of modern neo-soul and pop music, running Southampton based pop group 'The Flourish'. I studied both classical and jazz music, with a strong knowledge of jazz improvisation and harmony which I have been working on for over ten years; something I am now keen to share with new and aspiring musicians. I was first tenor saxophone in the University of Southampton Jazz Orchestra (which this year performed at the Jazz Montreux Festival) and now gig weekly as a solo saxophonist (with backing tracks) and with functions bands such as Fonz & The Poet, The Beats UK and the Tom Belbin Trio. I also play monthly in the 'Upstairs' House band at Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club.

My approach is focused on improving improvisatory skills on the saxophone, including jazz scales, patterns and licks, as well as learning standards and studies that enhances the students technique musically. Sound and intonation is also of great importance to a jazz/pop saxophone player of any level, so is also something I would quicky work on with students. I am a patient listener and easy going person who is willing to try different techniques to get the correct result. I will adapt all my lessons individually to my student, using a mix of books, CDs, and my own use of instruments (saxophone/keyboard) to assist the student.
