Personal Description:

I’m a musician and peripatetic music teacher based in Salisbury, UK.

I have a background playing semi-professionally in rock bands in London but these days my passion is jazz music and jazz guitar.

I love teaching music to young people and love the freedom that comes with being a peripatetic music teacher. I really enjoy helping students achieve their RSL and ABRSM grades and sharing the joy of music with them.

Before the pandemic I performed regularly in restaurants and for various events in and around Salisbury though sadly not as much recently – I’m very much hoping to get back to performing more in 2021.

In 2018 I spent 2 months in Central America as a cruise ship orchestra guitarist; a fantastic experience that really honed my sight reading and performing skills.

I have an Instagram guitar page that I update regularly with jazz guitar content which I find is a great way of interacting with people from all over the world who are interested in music and the guitar.

I’m currently working towards my RSL Level 4 Diploma In Teaching and have a busy private guitar teaching practice as well as teaching at a private school in Salisbury.

Tutoring Experience:

I’ve been teaching for 5 years, both privately and at a private school in Salisbury.

Tutoring Approach:

As an RSL awards teacher, my goal is to help young people learn contemporary music styles and to guide them towards taking graded music exams.
The RSL Rockschool is a fantastic system that encourages young people to learn popular songs by artists like Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift while also providing a solid basis in the fundamentals of guitar playing, with each grade requiring them to learn a mix of scales, chords and performance pieces.
I teach electric, acoustic and bass guitar and I have a 100% pass rate.

I also teach classical guitar and can tutor students through their ABRSM graded exams.

On top of this, I’m more than happy to provide more casual lessons. This often suits adult learners and usually involves the student mastering the basics of guitar before going on to learn songs by artists they know and love.

I have an up to date enhanced DBS check that enables me to work with children, full public liability insurance and an up to date Safeguarding certificate – Awareness of Child Abuse and Neglect.

Please do get in touch for more information. I look forward to hearing from you.
